Astronomers Anonymous of the Philippines

Astronomers Anonymous of the Philippines
Where amateurs meet amateurs
No pressure
No academic
Just for fun and for the love of cosmos

Officially founded on October 20, 2010, the Astronomers Anonymous of the Philippines (AAP) started from the ideas of criseltungala who took interest in astronomy very early and absindex who have been providing quality telescopes in the Philippines for enthusiasts like me and other people who have a profound love for the cosmos.

AAP aims to be a community of amateurs as well as non-amateurs that is anchored on sharing their knowledge on equipment, experiences and techniques to each other for the development and improvement of amateur observational astronomy in the Philippines. Moreover, the AAP aims to propagate and introduce amateur astronomy to the Filipino communities who have not been blessed with having their own telescopes or to those who have no prior experience when it comes to astronomy but has a deep desire and love for the cosmos.

  1. hi marvin. i like the way you presented and put into words what the vision and goal of AAP. If it did happen that I am not part of the group and read your post, I will definitely be encouraged to join as the opportunity to explore and put into reality my passion and interests is already available. By the ways, i do have a little correction about the idea. It was actually kuya alex who started with it and i just join along in making the group to be formed. so all the credits should be given to kuya alex as he is the mastermind of this club ^_^

  2. Thanks ate crisel. Credit must also be given to those who have contributed early to the formation of the AAP. And you deserve that credit ^_^ of course, sir alex undoubtedly inspired everything! have you seen the post for the logo design invitation? I did an email address for the group. Here's the email address: anonymousastronomers@gmail.com

  3. I already posted the email address in my blog as well ^_^ and since you're the only one who have access, then it will be safe to say that you'll be the best person in-charge of maintaining our emails. just let us know if there will be anything we can be of help. You may also want to create a FB account for AAP if that wouldn't be much to ask of you so that we can put updates and events thru this account

  6. Sorry for the late post. =) Thank you everyone for your interests in joining AAP. Together we will be able to share our ideas and interests in astronomy. I know that AAP still has a long way to go but with everyone's help and support, this club will make its name not only locally but internationally. =)

  7. Hi Marvin,

I'm glad that things are up and running.

I'm sure AAP shall make it and will stay as long as there are creatures out there whose love for the cosmos is as infinite as space itself.

I'm also positive that Crisel will be able to carry the torch with you and others' help.

Maybe, it's high time for me to suggest to you or bring up the issue on "Equatorial Mount" as I am sure you knew that I am mostly an "alt-azimuth" guy myself.

Maybe, if you can ready and prepare a simple tutorial that would really explain the crux of how to use an equatorial mount to a "layman's vernacular" this would be, I'm pretty sure, of great help to our fellow club members.

I'm sure you also knew, that one of the most anticipated challenge in using a telescope is how to use the German equatorial Mount.

Please take it as your major assignment but take no pressure, just do as you can and when you can.

    Regards.

  8. Hi sir alex,

Thanks for the comment and the enthusiasm. Our new club will surely reach great heights someday through the effort of its members and especially your telescopes for sale.

I'll do my very best to come up with the EQ mount tutorial as soon as I can and I'll inform you at once when its posted.

    Thanks and regards.
